Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at DrupalCon

Drupal is global in scale, reach, and opportunity. We rely on participation from a diverse range of contributors to ensure our community and platform are relevant to, accessible for, and representative of everyone we serve. Our community is guided by a set of values and principles, and one of the most important is our commitment to “treat each other with dignity and respect.” We are committed to living these values out loud — at DrupalCon and other events, and in everything we do.

That means we do not tolerate intolerance. We stand up for what could be, instead of settling for what is. And, we believe that together, the Drupal Community has the power to set positive change in motion. The DrupalCon experience is one way we bring our commitment to life.

Making DrupalCon the Best it Can Be

The Drupal Association and the volunteers who contribute to DrupalCon strive to make our conference a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all who join. We care that the people who attend DrupalCon feel comfortable and welcome, no matter their age, body size, caste, disability, ethnicity, gender, language, nationality, physical appearance, race, religion, sexual orientation, and socioeconomic status.

Speakers

Diverse perspectives create deeper conversation and make for a better product. We strongly encourage submissions from speakers who have been marginalized due to racism, misogyny, transphobia, and other forms of discrimination. Male-only panels will not be accepted. Learn more about the call for speakers.

Scholarships

We will be sharing information about DrupalCon Portland scholarships in the coming weeks.

Creating Safe & Welcoming Spaces

All participants, speakers, trainers, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, and event staff are required to abide by the DrupalCon Code of Conduct while at the conference and related events. The code clearly lists unacceptable behavior, consequences, and how to report violations.

How You Can Help

Thank you for joining us in creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive Drupal community. Here are some ideas for how you can contribute to this goal:

  • Educate yourself and your teams about diversity, equity, and inclusion. (See various resources from the Drupal community below.)
  • Longtime DrupalCon speakers are encouraged to lift as they climb by partnering with community members from historically marginalized groups. (Learn more about the call for speakers.)
  • Advocate for professional development and career opportunities on behalf of your less-privileged colleagues.
  • Build accessible websites and diverse and inclusive teams from the start.
